EqualAI President & CEO Miriam Vogel appeared on Bloomberg Balance of Power today to discuss her recent congressional testimony at an Emergency Hearing Calling for a U.S.-China AI Agreement.
Speaking with Bloomberg host Joe Mathieu, Miriam noted China’s whole-of-government approach to AI, including through AI regulations related to algorithmic recommendations, generative AI, and education.
“While we are having these conversations about existential risks – which we need to – we also need to keep our mind and our vision, our sights, on where AI is happening: in schools, in homes, in workplaces,” Miriam said.
Miriam called AI policy an “opportunity for a bipartisan step forward” and discussed mechanisms to create open lines of communication between the U.S. and China on AI issues.
She said: “We have similar incentives to make sure that we do not have global catastrophes, to make sure our children are safe.”
