EqualAI Appoints Amazon and Verizon Executives to Board of Directors, Adds Former FTC Commissioner as Senior Advisor
New appointments bring deep expertise in AI governance, privacy law, and technology regulation as the organization expands its work on AI literacy and AI governance
WASHINGTON, D.C. — MAY 28, 2026 — EqualAI, the leading nonprofit advancing responsible AI governance, today announced the appointment of Peter Hallinan, Director of Responsible AI at Amazon, and Sue Vinci, Chief Privacy Officer at Verizon, to its Board of Directors, and the addition of Julie Brill, former FTC Commissioner and former Chief Privacy Officer at Microsoft, as a Senior Advisor.
The appointments expand EqualAI’s leadership at a critical moment for AI policy. Together with President and CEO Miriam Vogel, the organization’s board members, and its existing senior advisors, the new appointees bring decades of combined experience across AI risk management, global privacy strategy, and federal technology regulation.

Hallinan holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Harvard University and brings a career spanning hi-tech, healthcare, finance, and energy. At Amazon, he leads teams building AI tools, capabilities, and resources that help organizations manage AI risks and foster trust. He has a long track record of building new products and ventures with social impact.
Vinci has worked with Verizon since 2002, directing the company’s global privacy strategy and serving as primary legal counsel for its cybersecurity and security organizations. She developed Verizon’s global privacy governance framework and has managed complex regulatory and reputational risk challenges across the enterprise.
Brill brings three decades of leadership across technology regulation, AI governance, and privacy, including her tenure as an FTC Commissioner and as Microsoft’s Chief Privacy Officer. She is currently Founder and Principal at Brill Strategies, a member of the Board of Directors for Ethyca, and Expert in Residence at Harvard University.
The appointments come as EqualAI expands its efforts on AI literacy and AI governance, building on the momentum of its annual Agentic AI Summit, its Badge Program, and its growing engagement with policymakers and Fortune 500 leadership teams.
